Job Summary
The Office of Precollege Outreach and Engagement encourages applications for multiple Temporary Live-In Program Advisors! The Advisors will display energy, passion, professionalism, maturity, positive role modeling, and good judgment. These positions will support the professional staff of the Partnership Outreach Programs in the Office of Precollege Outreach and Engagement, who serve over 300 first-generation students from across Colorado in planning and finding opportunities in post-secondary education. The summer program participants are minors and require a modified level of supervision and the advisor delivers this level of oversight.

The Office of Precollege Outreach and Engagement, partners with communities across Colorado and beyond to provide first-generation students and their families with comprehensive college preparation and social development programming.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Actively strive to cultivate and maintain a community climate that is supportive of all employees and students regardless of their identity, is respectful of differences, and exhibits a genuine willingness to understand multiple perspectives.
- Serve as primary contact for all safety, behavior, and emergent issues in the absence of program manager and Director that occur during the program.
- Refer students to appropriate services as needed and follow up with students in crisis. In case of emergency, contact participant’s guardians immediately, and if required travel with program participant to the nearest medical care center.
- Understand policy and procedures for attending to emergent and behavioral issues, and act in accordance with expectations.
- Enforce POP policies and procedures for POP participants, undergraduate staff; addressing student conduct behaviors (alcohol, drugs, curfew, and any other policy violations).
- Support and empower peer advisors in addressing participant issues in the residence halls and intervene if needed.
- Be aware of signs of potential problems and work with supervisor and undergraduate team to institute preventive and intervention measures.
- Understand, follow and abide by all university Child Protection Policies.
Management and Supervision:
- Supervise and manage a team of approximately 25 undergraduate student assistants (peer advisors).
- Create and manage staff schedule to include evening duty schedule and nightly round schedule for night staff.
- Create and cultivate a safe and trusting space for undergraduate staff members, encouraging team bonding, positive communication, and healthy conflict resolution.
- Support program administrators with the supervision of undergraduate staff, especially as it relates to issues within the resident halls.
- Be available to listen, advise and support program participants with difficult situations while recognizing personal and positional limitations
- Support undergraduate staff in managing student behavior needs and issues in the halls by responding to incidents, meeting with students, and pursuing appropriate administrative or student conduct actions.
- Mediate any conflicts among undergraduate staff, while encouraging them to independently engage in positive conflict resolution.
- Check-in with peer advisors once per week, on an individual basis, to support their needs.
- Lead nightly transition meetings with Peer Advisors and Night Residential Advisors to ensure smooth day-to-day transitions.
- Monitor incident report and infraction logs and address issues in a timely manner.
- Report any misconduct or issues of concern of undergraduate staff members to program administrators.
- Act as a liaison and refer undergraduate staff to appropriate resources as needed.
Communication:
- Respond to students and parent/guardian inquiries via phone and in-person in a timely manner.
- Communicate and report unsafe, inappropriate, and concerning behavior by POP participants and undergraduate staff to the administrative team, University Resources, CU Conferences Services staff, and parents as required by policy and procedures.
- Meet with program administrators twice per week to communicate any areas of concern and program coordination.
- Complete and submit nightly reports to program administrators daily.
Programming:
- As needed, support program administrators with coordination of program events.
- Attend summer program special events and closing ceremonies.
- Serve as designated driver with campus vehicle to transport students in urgent circumstances, program supply pick-up, and as other needs emerge.
Administrative:
- Collect documentation of student’s medication
- Serve as liaison between program and residential housing manager; communicating no-shows, student departures, and room changes.
- Administer pre- and post-survey for students and staff. Collect qualitative and quantitative data from program participants and student staff.
What You Should Know
These position are fully onsite. The Program Advisors will reside in the dorms on the CU Boulder campus.
Program dates are June 2-July 18 2025.
What We Can Offer
The hire rate for this position is $25.00 - $30.00 per hour.

What We Require
- A Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Ethnic/Critical Studies, or a related field. Appropriate experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
- 1 year of experience that includes facilitating small and large group activities, and staff management.
- A Valid Driver's License.
What You Will Need
- Experience in conflict-management and resolutions.
- Professional demeanor; motivated, flexible and adaptable. Be able to identify and address social and emotional needs of adolescents.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Experience working with undergraduate students.
- Experience working with youth from marginalized communities.
- Previous experience in Residence Life.
- Proven leadership experience.
- Spanish verbal and written skills are highly preferred.
- Human Development/ Family Studies degree or experience.
