Job Summary
The Department of Civil, Environmental & Architectural Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Temporary Researcher to support laboratory experiments focused on corrosion control in drinking water systems. The position will involve preparing and testing metal coupons under controlled laboratory conditions, monitoring water quality, and collecting data to evaluate metal release. This role offers hands-on experience with applied water quality research and the opportunity to work closely with an experienced research team in a collaborative laboratory setting.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Prepare and maintain metal coupons (copper with lead solder, brass, and harvested iron) for immersion testing following established protocols.
- Set up and monitor laboratory experiments, including preparing test waters, adjusting pH and alkalinity, and dosing disinfectants.
- Conduct regular water changes and collect water samples according to project schedules.
- Perform sample filtration, preservation, and documentation for metals analysis.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of experimental procedures, water quality measurements, and sample metadata.
- Assist with laboratory cleanup, equipment maintenance, and safe chemical handling practices.
- Communicate progress, issues, and findings clearly to the project lead and research team.
What We Can Offer
The hourly rate of pay associated with this position is $25.00.

What We Require
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field (or degree in progress).
- Previous laboratory experience, including sample preparation, water quality testing, or similar hands-on scientific work.
