Job Summary

The Hernandez lab is looking for a temporary researcher who will see through the completion of the IAQ analysis for the CDC funded “Multi-year study to determine the causal link between HEPA-filtered/unfiltered indoor air quality in occupied classroom (K-12) settings and human respiratory disease outcomes” as well as the coordination with Anschutz statisticians, and participation in weekly calls with CDC.

Who We Are

The Aerobiology and Disinfection Lab focuses on the characterization and control of microbiological air pollution and microbially induced corrosion. The lab develops genetic, biochemical and toxicological techniques to assess the efficacy of engineering interventions in sectors of sanitary engineering and industrial hygiene that are relevant to environmental health. There is special focus on aerobiology science for wide-area surveillance, indoor cleaning technology and the design of aerosol disinfection systems in the built environment.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Finish analysis of IAQ data for CDC research project
  • Contribute to HEPA user survey design, dissemination and analysis
  • Coordinate with statisticians at Anschutz for project analysis
  • Participate in weekly calls with CDC
  • Supervise undergraduate researchers as needed

19 hours per week@$36/hour.

What We Require

  • This position requires a PhD in Civil Engineering with a specialty in building science and statistical analyses is required.
  • Fluency with the development and application of computation coding in Python and R languages, as well as the commercial software “fluent/cfx” is also required.
  • Large building ventilation and energy performance data sets (TB) will be manipulated and juxtaposed to occupational behavioral data with multivariate statistical testing.
  • Visualization of statistical tests and regression outcomes will be delivered.
  • Previous experience analyzing classroom air quality data.
  • Experience in developing algorithm to automate fresh air exchange rates, PM exposures and identification of classrooms with HEPA filters operating.
