Job Summary

The University of Colorado is searching for a Temporary Student-Athlete Academic Support member to join our Athletics department! This position is planned to work through the summer, and is expected to work fully in-person, at least 30 hours a week.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Provide intensive one-on-one assistance for assigned at-risk students.
  • Motivate students to fully engage in their academic life and promote the development of academic success.
  • Teach students about academic integrity and academic fraud.
  • Assist students in managing their time and priorities.
  • Facilitate executive skills such as goal setting, time management, note taking and study skills, test taking skills, organization, prioritization, and communication using the curriculum in the Academic Mentor Packet.
  • Guide students how to create daily and weekly academic objectives that are specific and measurable.
  • Hold students accountable to meeting times/dates, behavior expectations, and academic objectives.
  • Create detailed reports following each individual session using the preferred method of reporting.
  • Confirm students are meeting attendance standards and working on scheduled/required academic objectives and class assignments.
  • Maintain confidential records, adhere to FERPA guidelines and all departmental confidentiality policies.
  • Assist in the facilitation of tutor appointment requests.

What You Should Know

What We Can Offer

  • Hourly compensation: $18.00.

Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Sport Management/Business Administration or related field.
  • Work experience may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis.

What You Will Need

  • Highly motivated with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Applicants should possess strong desire to work in the field of athletic academic support.
  • Candidates are expected to demonstrate academic integrity and confidentiality while complying with all University, PAC-12, and NCAA policies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Suite.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Experience teaching, tutoring, or providing academic support services to student-athletes.
  • Master’s Degree, or progress towards a degree, in Education, Counseling, Sport Administration/Business Administration, or related field.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and experience working with at-risk student-athletes.
