Job Summary

Career Services at CU Boulder encourages applications for a Temporary Student Employment Coordinator! The position involves supporting and developing the function of Student Employment in Career Services. Key responsibilities are task focused and providing back-up for staff in Career Services working on student employment. Tasks include: training content for supervisors, campus events such as the on-campus jobs fair and Student Employee of the Year, and creating and writing online tools, resources, and articles.

Career Services partners with key stakeholders across campus to ensure that students and alumni have the opportunity to develop foundational skills, gain professional tools, and solidify their career choices. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Student Employee Supervisor Training and Resource Development:
  • Identify internal and external training programs to address competency gaps for student employee supervisors.
  • Develop training and web-based resources to support student employee supervisors across campus in their development and support of student employees. Partner with content experts in developing resources and training. 
  • Develop and provide tools and templates to facilitate developmental conversations between supervisors and student employees.
  • Identify and implement strategies to recognize student employee supervisors.
  • Support trainings and ongoing support for campus employers with their Handshake account.
Communications:
  • Recommend content updates on Student Employment website and consult with subject matter experts (HR & Financial Aid) to ensure information is up to date. 
  • Identify and write articles and announcements for CU Boulder Today.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain campus employment communication campaigns to both student employees (and potential student employees) and student supervisors.
  • Prepare and write content for Rack Cards, Career Services’ presentations, etc. 
Event/program management:
  • Support the on-campus job fair and any additional programs for career opportunities for student employees.
  • Support committee for Student Employee of the Year programming and annual celebration.
  • Ensure logistics are completed for supervisor training including scheduling and communicating training dates, enrollment management, securing venues, managing facilitators, and coordinating equipment.
  • Identify ways to integrate student employment opportunities and programming into current student programming such as tabling at campus events and fairs throughout the year.
Partnerships and Campus Employer Support: 
  • Serve as a resource to campus employers for student employee development related questions, partnerships, and triage student employee related employee relations issues to Human Resources.
  • Assist campus employers to develop student employee job opportunities by coordinating with them on standard processes, updating and maintaining online resources, and answering incoming questions.
  • Support requests from campus employers with Handshake account creation, issues and questions.
Data tracking/analysis:
  • Measure supervisor training efficiency by collaborating with Career Services’ assessment liaison, using appropriate tools and survey analytics to make program improvements.
  • Measure total participation in student employee roles as compared with previous years and in line with goals for campus.

What You Should Know

This is a temporary, full-time position. The hours are anticipated to be Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. Preferred start date is early August and position is scheduled to end in May, with potential to extend through July. Work modality will be at least 3 days in person with Tuesday being a required in person day and flexibility to choose between a Monday or Friday and a 3rd day.

What We Can Offer

  • The pay range is $18.00 - $19.00 per hour.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage tasks and projects.
  • Demonstrated experience respectfully demonstrating openness, sensitivity and the ability to include all people into a process, especially those who are disadvantaged, have suffered discrimination or are living with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating with partners and developing authentic and mutually beneficial relationships while respecting and honoring varied perspectives and working styles.
  • Demonstrated ability to convey thoughts and ideas clearly and concisely in training materials, online resources, presentation content, and printed materials.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Experience working (either as a student or postgraduate) on a college campus, particularly in roles related to student affairs, career services, or human resources.
