Job Summary


The College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Colorado Boulder is currently seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the interdisciplinary area of Biomedical Engineering. CU Boulder has a highly ranked engineering college with several top 10 programs. The position will be associated with the College’s new Biomedical Engineering Program (BME) and is expected to be rostered in the Department of Electrical, Computer & Energy Engineering (ECEE). The BME program has over 30 affiliated faculty from engineering and science fields across the CU Boulder Campus and offers degrees at the BS, MS, and PhD levels. Candidates must have earned a PhD or equivalent degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Research areas of interest include those that fall within the broad scope of Biomedical Engineering. The opening is targeted at the level of Assistant Professor, but experienced candidates with outstanding credentials will be considered for an Associate or Full Professor appointment.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Successful candidates will be expected to engage in undergraduate and graduate teaching, contribute professional leadership and service, and develop a vigorous, externally funded research program in their technical area. Candidates whose expertise cuts across engineering and related disciplines are especially encouraged to apply. CEAS is interested in qualified candidates who can contribute through their research, teaching, and service to the diversity and excellence of our academic community. Tenure-track faculty in CEAS typically hold positions that include 40% teaching, 40% research, and 20% service effort distributions.

  • Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field by the time they are appointed as a tenure-track faculty member.

Special Instructions

This statement should address which core electrical engineering courses you can teach, particularly those relevant to biomedical engineering such as digital and analog circuits, electronic devices, and biomedical signals and systems (2 - 3 pages).
  5. Diversity and Inclusion Statement: A statement describing your experience and plans for inspiring diverse students to conduct research (2 - 3 pages).
  6. Contact information for three to five references, who can provide letters of recommendation as the search process progresses.
