Job Summary

The Enrollment Management Department at CU Boulder invites applications for the Transfer Credit Specialist position! We are hiring for two (2)  positions; one (1) will be a regular full-time and one (1) will be a 3-year limited term position. This unit provides essential services for current and prospective students including transfer credit entry and evaluation, and the maintenance and development of transfer tables, articulation agreements, transfer guides and associated systems. In doing so, this position provides tools and systems to help facilitate the work of colleagues in Admissions, Registrar, and Academic Advising positions on campus.

The position performs an evaluation for courses or test scores coming from other domestic institutions of higher education, advanced placement (AP) examinations, international baccalaureate (IB) examinations, college level examination program (CLEP) examinations, and military experience. This requires extensive knowledge of established standard University of Colorado Boulder guidelines, rules, regulations, as well as articulation agreements with Colorado community colleges, CDHE regulations and extensive knowledge of various national and regional higher education accreditation policies. This position researches and interprets course content for the evaluation process by investigating course descriptions in college catalogs or by exchanging and collecting information with institutions in question; extensive knowledge and application of grading systems, course requirements and transcript format is needed.

This position develops and maintains data entries in the transfer articulation component of the degree audit system, responding to accuracy issues by modifying, revising and correcting the appropriate data elements in a timely manner. The position enforces appropriate policies, guidelines and procedures to ensure the accuracy of data within the degree audit. This role assists in identifying new transfer credit guidelines, and advocates for changes to existing guidelines and procedures. The role coordinates the implementation process for approved procedures.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Course Evaluation: 
  • Responsible for determining the initial transferability courses from other institutions to CU Boulder. Following established policies, guidelines and regulations, determine the appropriate department and course level for the incoming credits. Create and maintain the academic record for student data on transfer credit in the transfer articulation component of the degree audit system. Generate on-going requests for the review of transfer courses by academic units and update transfer articulation component and student record based on academic unit decisions.
Create, Update and Maintain Transfer Articulation Data: 
  • Work with the Office of Admissions Transfer Team on targeted recruitment areas to assess current transfer articulation information, review course catalogs to determine additional course transferability, and update transfer articulation component of the degree audit with new information. In addition, generate, and edit reports to analyze the accuracy of the transfer credit data. Using results from the edited reports, update all appropriate data elements or use an escalation process as defined by the working unit. Coordinate a yearly catalog review for all assigned external institutions to determine what courses are no longer being offered, new courses that have been added and course content changes.
Curriculum and Policy Resource: 
  • Serve as a resource for departmental advisors, students, faculty and staff, to interpret and explain policies, regulations and guidelines related to transfer credit. Troubleshoot and implement the resolution of an individual student’s problems which may arise during the transfer credit evaluation process. Determine when issues need to be raised to other departments on campus.
Programming: 
  • Work closely with the Admissions Transfer Team on programming events as it relates to transfer credit process and expectations, including meeting with prospective students and families, addressing groups, live chats like Instagram and conducting one on one appointments. This position also supports other recruitment events including Admitted Students Day, Discover CU Boulder and other events that are required for the Domestic Recruitment team.

  • A hybrid work environment is available for this position, working 1 day per week in the office plus coverage for in-person recruitment events, which can vary depending on time of year. Some evening and weekend work is required.
  • We are hiring for two (2)  positions; one (1) will be a regular full-time and one (1) will be a 3-year limited term position.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
  • One (1) year of job-related experience in Higher Education.

What You Will Need

  • Knowledge of transfer credit policy, student recruitment (specifically transfer student recruitment), basic/rudimentary academic advising, admission policies and procedures, records policies and procedures, degree audit functionality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills; capable of handling a great deal of detail effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment; identify and resolve issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
