Job Summary

The Office of Veteran and Military Affairs is encouraging applications for the Program Coordinator position! The Office of Veteran and Military Affairs, (VMA) Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting the VMA full-time staff and serves as a University Certifying Official. The VMA Program Coordinator will need to maintain a thorough and current working knowledge of the Veterans Administration, State of Colorado, and University rules, regulations, and procedures to ensure the accurate release of information and program compliance. Additionally, this position will perform life-cycle support on the VMA Bundle 30 Enrollment Certification Manager workflow system. This position provides excellent, efficient, and timely customer service to student veterans and veteran-dependent students. The VMA Program Coordinator will report to the VMA Assistant Director.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Fiscal Responsibility, Quality Improvement, and Student Support:
  • As a University Certifying Official, this position will utilize resources provided by the Department of Education, Department of Defense, and Department of Veteran Affairs, (VA). Assists the VMA Assistant Director in ensuring adherence to the VA and Colorado State Approving Agency regulations concerning the support of students who receive VA educational benefits. In the performance of this responsibility, this position will assist the VMA Assistant Director in the verification and submission of enrollment data to the VA for tuition and fee payments to CU Boulder. Additionally, this position will provide assistance as directed by the VMA Assistant Director in the monitoring of student academic success progress, reporting retention and graduation rates, and assistance during VA financial audits which will include ensuring that the CU Boulder academic course catalog fully aligns with VA regulations. This position will routinely interact with new students, prospective students, and parents both in the office and via phone and email inquiries to the VMA office.
Data Management:
  • Perform life cycle support on the VMA Bundle 30 Enrollment Certification Manager workflow system. Life cycle support shall include updates to maintain compatibility with the VA administrative and IT requirements. The VMA Program Coordinator will assist the VMA Assistant Director in maintaining accurate data on student veterans and veteran-dependent students. This position will also be responsible for learning Web Express, and universities Content Management System to assist the VMA Assistant Director with maintenance and updates on the VMA website.
Collaboration:
  • This position will work with the VMA staff to establish and maintain processes for accurately identifying and reporting students under academic probation or suspension according to VA regulations. In the performance of this student support-based process, the VMA Program Coordinator will work with the VMA Academic Integration Program Manager to create and maintain an early warning system to identify and get in touch with student veterans and veteran dependents who might be struggling academically. Collaborate with other CU Boulder Offices to support current and prospective student veterans and veteran-dependent students. Coordinate with all colleges and schools at CU Boulder to support current and prospective student veterans and veteran-dependent students.
Professional Development:
  • As directed by the VMA Assistant Director, participate in training seminars, conferences, committee meetings, and other meetings for professional development. Continually learn new laws and program guidelines.

What You Should Know

  • This position will be asked to accommodate a varied schedule including occasional evening and weekend responsibilities. The hybrid schedule for this position is 3 days in person and 2 days remote.

What We Can Offer

  • The starting salary for this position is $50,000 - $53,000.
  • Onboarding assistance is available within Student Affairs division guidelines.

What We Require

  • A BA/BS from an accredited 4-year institution of higher education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
  • 1+ year of professional, job-related work experience.
