Who We Are
The Institute of Behavioral Science (IBS) is a research institute at the University of Colorado Boulder. Since its establishment in 1957, it has provided a setting for interdisciplinary, collaborative research on problems of societal concern. By engaging faculty from all the social and behavioral sciences at the University of Colorado, Boulder, IBS encourages work that transcends disciplinary boundaries, that illuminates the complexity of social behavior and social life, and that has important implications for social policy; IBS researchers are expected to conduct research that fulfills that mission. IBS is organized into five research programs, each defined by an interdisciplinary area of research and directed by a senior research scientist. This recruitment is sponsored by the Institute’s Population and Health and Society Programs, with support from the Prevention Science Program, the Environment and Society Program, and the Program on International Development.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Leadership:
- Serve as an ex-official, non-voting member of the IBS Executive Committee and Advisory Board.
- Contribute to development of strategic goals and objectives by participating in short- and long-range planning and visioning. This includes working with the Finance Director and Administrative Coordinator to advise the Director of short-term needs as well as supporting long-range planning.
- Serve as secondary point of contact and Institute representative when Director unavailable.
Operations:
- Collaborate with the Director and Finance Director in making resource allocation decisions.
- Collaborate with Finance Director and Administrative Coordinator in administrative hiring and provide input on other administrative decisions.
- Collaborate with Finance Director and Administrative Coordinator to ensure balanced administrative workloads in support of IBS’ researchers.
- Collaborate with Finance Director and Administrative Coordinator to monitor and develop operational practices to maintain and gain efficiencies.
- Collaboratively develop and revise overarching policies, procedures and operational framework of the Institute. Provide support and counsel to the Director on Institute policies considering long range implications.
- As needed, communicate and collaborate with relevant campus offices and implement campus administrative processes and policies.
Engagement:
- Collaborate with Administrative Coordinator and Event Coordinator to schedule, plan, coordinate all IBS events including speaker series, workshops, visiting scholars, socials, and others. Participate in development of post-event wrap up and solicit feedback for improvement, when appropriate.
- Collaboratively develop and offer new outreach and events to attract, engage, and recruit a diverse community of researchers and students.
- Work with IBS administrative leadership to develop membership a Recognition program, including recognition events.
- Collaborate with DEI director and Administrative Coordinator to develop and recommend improved processes for internal culture and climate to ensure the Institute develops and sustains an internal climate aligned with a focus on partnerships, equity, and wellness.
