Job Summary

The Recreation Services group with CU Boulder is currently accepting applications for a Custodian! This position is responsible for housekeeping tasks in assigned areas across campus while using safe work practices and proper housekeeping techniques. Custodians will be assigned to work locations, but may perform duties in variety of areas, as well as team assignments for daily cleaning and sanitizing. This position is also responsible for helping in other areas and performing team cleaning duties when needed. The anticipated schedule for this position will be during the third shift, Monday - Friday from 11:00pm - 7:30am.

This student-fee-funded unit features a student-led CUSG Recreation Board and a diverse team of professional experts to help meet evolving recreational needs and support student engagement and success. Recreation Services supervises the LEED Platinum main campus Student Rec Center, a building with over 300,000 square feet of recreation and fitness activity space, as well as a satellite recreation center at Williams Village, outdoor basketball courts, a challenge ropes course, and eight turf and grass fields around campus. Throughout these facilities, members of the CU community can engage with a variety of programs that include ice skating, indoor rock climbing, intramural and club sports, yoga, aquatics and so much more.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Cleaning, Disinfecting, and Sanitizing Facility

  • Clean, sanitize and deodorize locker rooms and restrooms.
  • Sweep and vacuum carpeting and floors using manual and power equipment.
  • Mop, scrub, shampoo, and spot clean carpeting and floors.
  • Clean woodwork, walls, and windows using common household equipment and cleaning products.
  • Replace toiletries and supplies, and keep equipment and supplies in order by requesting stocking supplies when needed
  • Sweep and auto scrub basketball courts.
  • Produce a sanitary environment to be inspected by the supervisor.

Area Assistance and Team Cleaning

  • Assist cleaning areas while colleagues may be absent as though they were cleaning their own area.

Stocking and Inventory

  • This consists of cleaning, stocking and inventory of custodial closets. Also, the efforts of filling soap, toilet paper and paper towel dispensers if necessary. Reporting broken fixtures or equipment to supervisor.

What You Should Know

  • The anticipated schedule for this position will be during the third shift, Monday - Friday from 11:00pm - 7:30am

Shift Differential Available

  • Second shift differential is 7.5% (Shall be paid for all hours worked when half or more of the scheduled work hours fall between 4pm and 11pm, Monday through Thursday).
  • Third shift differential is 14% (Shall be paid for all hours worked when half or more of the scheduled work hours fall between 11pm - 6am, Monday through Friday).
  • Weekend shift-differential is 20% (Shall be paid for all hours worked when half or more of the scheduled work hours fall between 4pm - 6am, Friday through Monday).
  • If hours are evenly split between shifts, the higher shift differential rate applies to all hours worked during the shift.

What We Require

Six months experience with custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, etc.

What You Will Need

  • Ability to lift, move and operate cleaning tools and equipment.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks independently.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • One year experience with custodial or housekeeping in a recreational facility, preferred but not required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, if needed.
