Job Summary
The Office of Undergraduate Education at CU Boulder welcomes applications for the Director of Scholar Support Programs! This role will have full time, twelve-month responsibility for scholarship support programs within Undergraduate Enrichment Programs (UEP). These programs include but not limited to the Boettcher Scholars, Norlin Scholars, and Daniels Scholars programs.

Who We Are
The Office of Undergraduate Education (UE) is a campus office reporting to the Provost, comprised of programs and offices that serve all students across campus, including the University Exploration and Advising Center (UEAC); the Program in Exploratory Studies (PES); First Year Seminars (FYS); International Student Academic Success Programs; Undergraduate Enrichment Programs (UEP) (including Norlin and Boettcher Scholars; the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP); and the Professional and Academic Conference Endowment (PACE)); the Top Scholarships Office; International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS); Education Abroad (EA); the Student Academic Success Center (SASC); the Presidents Leadership Class (PLC); and three ROTC programs (Air Force, Army, Naval).
Current key projects in UE include a focus on first-year academic programs with the development of First Year Seminars; the coordination of undergraduate academic policies; the development of a coordinated campus advising structure; and the coordination and assessment of campus retention and persistence initiatives.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Strategic Planning and Student Success Initiatives
- Design and implement program goals and priorities; conceptualize and develop new programming to enhance students’ educational experiences; determine the direction of program growth and change; and formulate operational guidelines and procedures.
- Collaborate with scholarship organizations, such as Daniels Fund and Boettcher Foundation, to share student academic progress, needed resources, and shared event planning.
- Develop, organize, and lead events, including signature events such as the welcome and closing events, to build community within and among the scholar programs.
- Collaborate with Scholarship Services, Admissions, and Development Offices in planning recruitment visits and outreach events.
Student Support
- Oversee credit-bearing academic classes designed for students from multiple campus majors; collaborate with Norlin faculty on course-related matters; and partner with affiliated colleges and programs of record for the courses.
- Provide one-on-one student advising to include academic questions, career planning and personal problem solving through scheduled appointments, drop-ins, phone, and email interactions.
- Manage student academic challenges and conduct issues.
- Provide campus referrals to needed supports including Counseling & Psychiatric Services, Student Support & Case Management, Basic Needs Center, Health & Wellness Services, and other campus support offices.
- Collaborate with the offices, such as Top Scholarship, Undergraduate Research, Education Abroad and other relevant offices to prepare, refer and support student opportunities for high impact opportunities.
Supervision
- Provide leadership and oversight for the UEP staff and Norlin faculty, working with them individually and as a group to develop and implement standard processes in service of specific student populations.
- Deliver professional development planning, faculty and staff evaluation processes, and support with planning signature events.
- Guide team in yearly planning processes and combined reporting to share with Undergraduate Education or equivalent experience, Development and scholarship organizations.
Daily Operational and Fiscal Management
- Maintain administrative duties, including email communication with students and colleagues, event planning, report writing for development and scholarship organizations, and daily planning.
- Plan and manage operating budget, manage merit exercise, and develop business plans in collaboration with the Office of Undergraduate Education.
Develop Student Success Partnerships
- Coordinate with relevant campus offices such as Career Services, Center for Student Involvement, Registrar, Financial Aid, Scholarship Services, First-Generation Program, Transfer Initiatives, Lead Alliance, PLC, Honors Program, Residential Academic Programs, Center for Inclusion and Social Change, Development, Undergraduate Education colleagues and academic departments.

- Willingness to accommodate a varied schedule that includes some evening and week-end responsibilities.

What We Require
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
- Four plus (4+) years of experience in student services or scholarship support - including lead or supervision experience.
- Experience developing and leading extra-curricular student activities as well as providing student academic, career, and personal advising.
What You Will Need
- Demonstrated dedication to college access support and working with prioritized student populations.
- Ability to develop and lead extra-curricular activities for high achieving students.
- Experience providing student academic, career, and personal advising.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills.
- Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- The ability to work successfully both independently and as part of a team.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Master's degree in higher education or related field or equivalent experience.
- Ten years of experience in student services or scholarship support.
- Familiarity with CU Boulder academic or scholarship processes.
- At least five years of experience teaching, counseling, advising, or delivering other student development programs at the college or university level.
- Demonstrated knowledge, both theoretical and practical, of the intellectual and personal development of college students.
