Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our research group in the Department of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering. Candidates with strong backgrounds in power systems, optimization, machine learning, operations research, or related fields are encouraged to apply.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

The successful candidate will conduct research at the intersection of power systems, optimization, and artificial intelligence, with applications including power system operations, renewable energy integration, decision-making under uncertainty, and AI-enabled energy systems. The position involves developing advanced optimization and machine learning methods, publishing in leading journals and conferences, mentoring students, and contributing to proposal development and collaborative research initiatives.

What We Can Offer

$65,000 - $70,000 per year.

What We Require

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a closely related field completed by the start date of the appointment.
  • Strong background in two or more of the following areas: power systems, optimization, machine learning/artificial intelligence, energy systems, or operations research.
  • Demonstrated research productivity through peer-reviewed journal and/or conference publications.
  • Experience with programming and scientific computing tools (e.g., Python, Julia).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.

What You Will Need

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
  • Knowledge of power systems, optimization, machine learning, or related areas.
  • Experience with scientific programming tools (e.g., Python, Julia, MATLAB).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor students and contribute to research activities.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Research experience in power systems, optimization, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or energy systems.
  • Experience developing optimization and data-driven models for engineering applications.
  • Proficiency in programming tools such as Python or Julia, algebraic optimization languages such as Pyomo or JuMP, and machine learning packages.
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
  • Experience mentoring students and contributing to collaborative research projects.
