Who We Are
The mission of the Integrative Physiology of Aging Laboratory is to conduct novel original research and to provide high quality research training to the next generation of research scientists.
The research of the Integrative Physiology of Aging Laboratory focuses on:
- Important changes in physiological function with aging, with a particular focus on changes in cardiovascular health involving blood pressure and vascular function;
- Modulation of cardiovascular function by changes in biological factors (e.g., estrogen status) and lifestyle behaviors (e.g., physical activity/inactivity, diet);
- The efficacy of interventions, both lifestyle and pharmacological (including natural compounds), for reversing adverse changes in cardiovascular function with aging;
- The integrative (systemic to molecular) biological mechanisms that mediate changes in cardiovascular health with aging and with effective interventions.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Clinical Duties:
- Screening, monitoring and testing research subjects
- Prepare equipment and supplies for scheduled procedures
- Assist investigator with some laboratory procedures (e.g., exercise testing, DXA, blood pressure measurements, ultrasound imaging, etc.)
- Monitor subject compliance using online survey records
Data Management and Subject Results:
- Analysis of computer-recorded physiological data (e.g., ECG, BP waveforms, physical activity monitors, etc.)
- Assist with management of database (timely data entry into spreadsheets, assure data are properly recorded in files and in computer databases)
Wet lab Duties:
- Processing of blood samples for testing
- Peripheral blood mononuclear cell isolation
- Cell culture
Preclinical Duties:
- In vivo/in vitro vascular testing
- Tissue harvest and sample preparation
Data Management:
- Data entry
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and REDCap

- This position is expected to begin May 1st, 2025.

What We Require
- Bachelors degree in science field.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Previous experience in cardiovascular physiology research, human blood processing, biochemical techniques and rodent handling.
