Job Summary
A Professional Research Assistant position is available in the Alexandra Whiteley Laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry at University of Colorado-Boulder, starting Fall 2025. The Alex Whiteley Laboratory works on understanding how regulated protein degradation influences diseases such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The lab is located in the new Jennie Smoly Caruthers Biotechnology Building on the eastern end of campus.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Responsibilities include managing animal colony and in vivo experiments, as well as minor lab management duties. The candidate will be responsible for a major project in the lab investigating new ALS therapeutics with in vivo testing and will be required to perform injections and tissue harvests in addition to animal husbandry. Additional commonly used methods in the lab include cloning new constructs, mammalian cell culture, transfection/transduction of constructs, gel electrophoresis, and Western blotting.
- Management responsibilities include ordering, shipping materials, maintaining lab inventory lists, autoclaving, equipment maintenance, updating the lab website, and general lab maintenance.

What We Can Offer
The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $57,000 annually.

What We Require
- A Bachelor's degree in Biology or related discipline is required; candidates with PhDs will be considered as well.
What You Will Need
- Experience with murine models is essential, including handling, husbandry, and some experience with injections.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Experience with intracranial injection, neuromotor testing, and/or histological analysis is a plus.
- Some experience with mammalian cell culture and molecular biology is a plus.
