Job Summary

A summer research position is available in the Kasinath Lab in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Colorado Boulder. The research position involves working with C. elegans and requires expertise in handling C. elegans for high pressure freezing, cryo-CLEM imaging and cryo-electron tomography.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Culturing C. elegans, preparing C. elegans for high pressure freezing, cryo-FIB milling, cryo-CLEM imaging, and cryo-electron tomography.

The hiring rate for this position is $18 per hour for 15 hours per week.

What We Require

  • Undergraduate degree in IPHY with 2+ years experience working with C. elegans. Experience in working with C. elegans, experience in collecting cryo-CLEM imaging data on Leica and Stellaris microscopes. Experience in cryo-FIB milling on the Aquilos and experience in collecting tilt-series data on cryo-TEM Krios 300 kV microscope.

What You Will Need

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Expertise in C. elegans dissection, gonad isolation, half-gonad isolation. Expertise in brightfield and fluorescence imaging of fixed and unfixed C. elegans worms, and gonads. Expertise in operating the cryo-CLEM microscope. Expertise in operating Baltec and Leica EM Ice high pressure freezing instruments. Expertise in operating independently cryo-FIB milling Aquilos instrument.
